Battle: Los Angeles
My first theater viewing of 2011 is going to be Battle: Los Angeles. I’m going to see it right after I get out of work today. I’m betting that 3/4 of the movie is going to be good until the ending is revealed, then it’ll become just an “okay” movie. I’m hoping this shit is more serious than Will Smith punching an alien and saying “Welcome to Earth”, or disabling advanced alien technology with a computer virus.
Battle:LA is somewhat based on a real life UFO encounter back in the 1940′s. Three months after the attack on Pearl Harbor, a UFO appeared flying over LA, and the army blasted the fuck out of it, and it never went down. LA people thought it was the Japanese but it wasn’t, and the official reports from the military says it was a loose weather balloon. One of the theories on what was flying above is it was an extraterrestrial UFO we were shooting at because of the photo taken, and again the UFO was never shot down although it was damn near shot to smithereens.
If it was an extraterrestrial UFO and we attacked it. We may have unknowingly started an Interstellar/Galactic War. Let’s hope not.
