Mary Jane Falls Trail

Last weekend, and the weekend before that I went hiking up to Mary Jane Falls trail with some co-workers.

The first time going it could’ve ended disastrous.

It starts off with my co-worker telling me a bunch of white lies about the difficulty of hiking the trail. The ole “It’s not that BAD of a hike”, and the constant hearing of “The hardest part is already over with” after each strenuous part. I mean, I get it, you’re trying to motivate me BUT I’d rather hear the truth (no matter how good or bad it is). I made a commitment to climb it and better believe that I’ll finish it.

The second part on how it could’ve ended badly was the fact that we got lost and hella went off the trail. There is a sign that we were supposed to run into and tell us to go right but it was missing and we went straight, and the trail difficulty turned hard as fuck. There was even a part where I was stepping on the edge, and if I had fallen, it was going to be a 50+ foot drop down a steep ass slope. It wouldn’t have ended very well for me.

After reaching the top of the trail, I didn’t even get a chance to explore any of the caves in the surrounding area as well as enjoy the waterfall cause I was just too damn tired. We stayed up there for a little bit and then an awkward situation happened. At first there was 2 couples up there, and me and my co-worker didn’t think anything of it. Then all of a sudden like 3 more couples climbed up, and that’s when I said “What is this couples day or something?”. That’s when it struck us, it was freakin’ Valentines weekend, and there was all these couples making their way to the top. Well, after noticing that me and the co-worker just left.

On the way back down, my legs started to cramp up AND my ankle started to get tight. It was getting dark fast, and the wind started to pick up. We finally made it back down, and being all tired and hungry we decided to eat at Pop’s Philly Steaks. The Philly cheese steak was okay, I think I’ll give it another try, just felt like everything tasted “meh”.

The weekend after that we hit up Mary Jane Falls again but it wasn’t as bad as the first time. We actually found where the trail split and stayed on the path. Also another co-worker came with us and everything was a bit easier cause I knew what to expect. After the hike we ended up at a brewery at Red Rock casino and finished the outing watching Deadpool (which I didn’t like but I’ll explain that in another post).

Overall it wasn’t too bad. The part I didn’t like the most was being lied to about the hike (those damn white lies). Second part I didn’t like was wasting my money on Deadpool. Anyways, my adventure is going to be put on pause for a little bit because I’m having ankle problems. I didn’t do anything this weekend because the trail they were going hike up was much more difficult than Mary Jane Falls trail and it would suck to get stuck because my ankle decided to give out. Anyways tomorrow on Monday I have a follow up to finally see whats up with my ankle. I’ll let yall know what’s up. Later.

Phoenix Trip Explanation

At almost every job that I’ve had I experienced burnout. You see in my mind being a “good” employee was taking on as much work as possible, while rarely taking any breaks and time off. What usually ends up happening is I’ll start missing out on important life events. I’ll be skipping out on celebrating many things with family and friends, while also never getting to say my goodbyes at funerals. Eventually, it’ll hit me hard that I’m being overwhelmed, and sooner or later my anxiety/depression kicks in, and now it takes an enormous amount of energy just to get out of bed.

So lately I decided to change some of my ways. The new me was going to take breaks and time off away from work as much as possible. I now don’t care how much of a “lazy” employee it makes me look like, my health and well-being is more important than anything. So with all that being said about 3 months ago I randomly started planning on a trip. I didn’t know what I was going to do, and just so happened to look up SF Giants games. At first I wanted to see if I could catch a game with them playing against the LA Dodgers or the SD Padres but those were all mid-week games. Then I found out on the weekend of July 17th-19th they would play against the Arizona Diamondbacks.

I planned out my trip as leaving early morning, arrive at Phoenix around Noon-ish, go exploring around the city, go check into the hotel, and be at the ballpark probably an hour before the game starts at 5:10pm.

Everything about the plan was pretty solid, and the only thing left for me to do was follow through with it. On the night before the trip I decided to go to bed early and get some extra sleep. What really ended up happening was I was more excited about the trip, and couldn’t sleep. I forgot what time I slept, but when I woke up, it was past 11am, and by the time I got ready and was out the door it was already Noon.

So after the late start, I was finally on the road. The drive there wasn’t too bad, and the only other delay I had was about an hour outside of Phoenix. It was about a 6 car accident caused by extremely bad weather (the accidents was so bad that they had a chopper land on the highway) . The detour probably tacked on about 45 minutes to my trip.

When I finally got to my hotel and was checked in, it was 4:45pm. I just quickly dropped everything off in my room, and left for Chase Field. I didn’t know where there stadium was exactly at, and when I saw it was located Downtown Phoenix, my mood went from “I’ll be a little late” to “I’m going to be hella late”.

Since it was Downtown, I couldn’t find any free parking at all. The only lots available to park costs $20, I didn’t have any cash on hand, and there was no convenience store around. I had to drive like 5 miles outside of town, finally came across an ATM at a 7-11, and drove all the way back to spend $20 bucks just to park, not even having made my way into the stadium yet.

I parked, and walked. It wasn’t too far, but the humidity was high. Making my way up to the stadium I kind of got nervous pulling out my ticket cause it was printed on paper instead of an actual ticket stub. I got in line, the lady scanned it, and I successfully got in.

The time was now around to 6pm. Running late, I didn’t have any time to walk around Chase Field, I immediately tried to find my seat. While I was on my way towards my section, it was a Star Wars night and I kept bumping into a bunch of Stormtroopers, Darth Vaders, and other various characters. I found it hella funny that I saw an advertisement for that themed night on one of the TVs I was passing by and the SF Giants were pictured as the Dark Side.

It was in the 4th inning when I finally reached my seat (between 1st base & away team bullpen) and there was a lady sitting in it. She was with her family, and when I asked her to please move, I saw she was kind of disappointed that I showed up because she now had to “squeeze” in with me. It was all fine because when she moved over, and I sat down, there was still plenty of space between us. I eventually started up small talk with them and found out they live in Arizona but are from Daly City, and Sacramento. We started talking more about the SF Giants seasons, and The Bay Area. Overall they’re pretty cool people.

While I was sitting and watching the game. Looking around I noticed Chase Field is kind of amazing. Really more of the retractable roof it has and how the A/C can blast pretty high and instantly get rid of the humidity. The SF Giants dominated that game, and by the 7th Inning Stretch, I decided to get up and do a small walk around. I went to the snack bar, ordered a small $1.50 hotdog (really worth it), and the $6.50 hotdog (hella NOT worth it) with a small soda on the side. I stood off in an area on the side and was just people/Star Wars character watching, it was nice.

After the game, I went back to the hotel. I was HELLA tired from driving, and being at the ballgame. I fell right asleep, but in the middle of the night I woke up with my ride side hurting pretty bad, it was to the point of where it was causing me to have a shortness of breath. I eventually fell back asleep but still woke up with the same problem. I didn’t have medical insurance at the time so I toughed it out, ate breakfast at some hole-in-the-wall diner, and drove home.

I found out it was a pinched nerve causing that problem. You know how I know? I woke up Monday morning, had a good sneeze (which I thought was going to be painful), but felt the nerve shift into where it was supposed to be and I could all of sudden breathe with no problems. It was disgustingly satisfying.

After that Phoenix trip, I felt like I needed to do more things. So, I’m going to start doing more random adventures. If it seems fun, and is a unique experience, I’ll probably do it.

Sunday! Sunday! Sunday!

First of all, I really don’t like going to strip clubs.

Being in a dark room with a naked girl dancing in front of me isn’t appealing anymore. It’s the sad realization that the girl is only messing with me for my money. I don’t know how some people can keep going back to be lied to like that.

Anyways, I ended up at a Larry Flynt’s Hustler Club with my homeboys Walter and Stephen. They’re usually there on Sundays cause it’s free happy hour drinks/food from 8pm to Midnight. I haven’t seen them for a while now and wanted to get out the house, so I tagged along with them.

The night started off decent. Kept knocking back Crown Apple + 7up, plus plenty of some citrus vodka shots. Homeboys also ate the in-house pizza (Although it was free, I didn’t trust it, plus carbs).

Kept drinking and started getting past the point of no return at some side bar. Then this one stripper “falls” into my lap. We go through the whole introduction process, I say I’m from The Bay and she’s from LA. She notices my SF Giants lanyard, and then she starts talking about the “Los Doyers” (Her words not mine). Now the conversation is back and forth banter bout our baseball rivalry and she seems to know her stuff too. Everything seems cool til we’re interrupted by the DJ calling her to the dance floor, so before she leaves she tells me her stripper name (not going to say it). I watch her go, and my homeboys come over to give me a pep talk bout getting at her (all really bad advice).

Me and my boys ordered more drinks, talked more shit to each other, and then out of nowhere she returns and my homeboys leave. We resumed our baseball talk, and then it moved into stuff we like. We’re taking turns “buying” drinks (tipping the bartender), and then she asks if I want to buy her a dance. I know she’s been working on me for that setup, and yeah I may have been drunk but it still wasn’t enough for me to give in and so I politely declined. She leaves again, and now it’s just me and my homeboys back to drinking.

After awhile, happy hour is over. The drinks we were ordering turned into their full price at $30 per, so we stopped. We’re getting ready to go, so I leave to take a piss, and coming out the bathroom, I see “Los Doyers”, and she’s bout to get on the dance floor. She sees me, grabs my arm, and asks me to watch. She’s going through all the dance motions, and I throw some 1’s at her. Afterwards, she sits on me, and begs for a lap dance. I’m hella drunk, and decided in my head “Meh, what’s another $20”.

She takes me to a back table and starts grinding on me hella hard, and then I stop her. Really, the only thing I wanted from her was to sit, chill, and just stare at her (She’s beautiful, and I’m drunk). She’s on me, and we’re just chilling… THEN out of nowhere she tells me her real name AND all the personal problems that she’s going through, and I mean spilling EVERYTHING to me.

She goes “Why can’t I make money as the other girls, is it because I’m ugly or something”, and then proceeds to point out at the different girls around and tells me how much each one makes a night… Then she’s starts crying and telling me her heroin problem! What the fuck?!?! Her crying goes from misty tears to full on ugly Niagara Falls type tears. It’s such a noticeable display that a random dude came over, and handed her some napkins, while looking at me like “Why you making her cry for?”. I’m just so glad he didn’t step in and try to play hero… I tried to comfort her the best I could but she tells me not to touch her. She then gets off of me and the DJ calls for her again to get on stage, I try to hand her my $20 and she refuses at first. I kept insisting, and eventually takes the money (reluctantly).

She starts dancing on stage, and another stripper joins her. She’s good at hiding the tears, and the her appearance/mood goes back to being like she was never crying but just “flirty” with other customers. After the song, she disappears, and her friend starts talking to me. I ask her friend to text her my number (she does). The friend leaves, my homeboys sit next to me asking if I’m ready to leave and before I say “yes” we get kicked out. It’s not because of me, it’s because one of my homeboys (who shall not be named) rubbed some girl’s cooter on another stage and she didn’t like that so she told security.

Honestly, I wouldn’t know what to do if she called me. Also I’m good off of strip clubs for awhile, even if there’s free alcohol/food. Only good thing I can mention is that I spent less than I did the last time I went to a strip club (see here). I spent $40 at hustler, and $10 at Dennys. Sunday had me feeling all types of weird.

New Bentley Continental GT Unveiling Party

After clocking out of work, locking my office, and making my way to my truck to go home, I came across a party going on. Catered food, open bar, live music and plenty of fancy dressed people, I found out it was a party for a new car Bentley was releasing. I stopped in my tracks and took a detour to the bar where I ordered up some Raztinis, then ate hella hors d’oeuvres, desserts, and chatted it up with a few co-workers (who were still on the clock by helping out with the party). It was fun, and the new Continental GT looks beautiful.

I’m going to try to watch more movies in the theaters this year. Here are a list of movies I’d like to see:

  1. Battle: Los Angeles
  2. Cars 2
  3. Kung Fu Panda 2
  4. Sucker Punch
  5. Super 8
  6. Cowboys and Aliens

I just searched in google “movies coming out in 2011” and pretty much chose the interesting films. I think I’ll be spending around $200 total (That’s if I see 6 movies), It’ll be about $11 per ticket, and each visit I think I’ll be getting some theater food which will probably cost me $20 (remember theater food is expensive!).

Happy Thanksgiving '07

Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! Next year I’m going to be deep frying my turkey, which instead of hours of cooking, only takes 30 freakkin minutes!!! Pictures and videos will be taken, plenty of food will be eaten, and large amounts of alcohol is going to be consumed. Once again, Happy Thanksgiving, I’ll update soon, LAtEZ.
