San Diego Bound.

In about 2 hours I’m bout to head out to San Diego with the family for a week.

One of my Mom’s sisters has¬†Alzheimer’s disease. She’s been in San Diego for about a month or so, and before that she was in Samoa. So while she’s in the states I’m pretty sure all the brothers and sisters are going to come through to help out and all catch up with each other. I smell a mini reunion is about to happen.

I haven’t had a job in awhile, and I hate to be traveling places without cash. It just sucks that when I do have a job, I’ll have money to spend but can never get any time off. It’s true, now that I think of it. I’ve never took vacation (Or wasn’t allowed to) at any of my full time jobs. At my next job before I’m about to be hired, I think I’ll let them know that I’m a guy who likes to take vacation.

Also I’ve been thinking that I might backpack someplace before I’m 30. I’m serious about doing it too.

Well, I haven’t packed yet for the trip, so I better get to it.

Reunion Trails Park Lens Test

On Tuesday I met up with Moli. She takes a photography class and she was given a list of assignments to do for the week. So I tagged alongside her and went to the Reunion Trails Park. She went to complete her photo assignments, I continued testing out my 50mm lens. While walking around I found out that it’s also a small water park which opens in May. There’s also a bunch of decorations that don’t make sense like a cement circle walkway that resembles a crop-circle and in the middle of it all are rusted rods sticking out the ground. I can’t figure it out. Anyways, after staying there for about an hour or so, the park starts filling up with children and that was our cue to leave because people with cameras at a park full of kids are kind of frowned upon. We left to Moli’s house and I snapped some shots of the twins, then I went home and got a pic of my Mom and the backyard.

Downtown Lens Test

Last night I went Downtown to the Griffin with Reno. He went for the dranks, and I went to test out my new Canon 50mm f/1.8 lens. Overall, I’m hella happy with the results.

As you can see the pictures are in or around the Griffin. I didn’t walk around Downtown and take pics… I still gotta work on that shyness. I mean it’s fun people watching but it’s very hard trying to capture those moments. Oh and before I go, doesn’t the bassist guy look like¬†Frank Fritz from American Pickers? You decide! I’m out.

Child of the 90s

Damnit, Microsoft got me feeling all nostalgic… Pulling on my heartstrings and shit.

2013 Rugby 7s

I got good news and bad news.

First the good. I finally got the gallery up and running, and I also uploaded all the photos I took for the Rugby 7s here in Las Vegas.

You can view the Rugby album HERE.

The bad news is that when my gallery went down awhile ago, I was editing some stuff and killed off all the pictures. Seriously. The only album I have now is the Rugby 7s. I’ll be uploading everything else later.

And that’s about all I have to say about that.

Samoans On TV Part 1

I got bored and so I made a list of Samoans on TV/movies. Obviously I’m not going to include wrestling, local Samoa commercials, or anything based around Samoa because that’s just too easy. Enjoy what I’ve got so far, and I’ll make another list later.

In this clip I’m pretty sure this was the first time I’ve ever heard Samoa mentioned on TV. I can’t put an exact date when I first saw this episode but it has to be early 90’s because I didn’t start elementary school yet, and I remember when I was watching this episode, I can recall my Dad leaving to go to work. My reaction to the cartoon? I was excited because I didn’t think people knew about Samoa. It was awesome.

Tony Rocky Horror is Samoan? I laughed. Then kinda felt bad cause he got thrown from a four story building. Why feel bad? Any Samoan put in harms way I kinda feel bad.

It’s weird, I came across this clip this morning. Why weird? Well let’s just say after watching the movie Kingpin, I logged onto my computer and started looking up the Kingpin Soundtrack, and many youtube links later had me looking at The Royal Samoans and Betty Boop.

Betty Boop and The Royal Samoans.
In Boy Meets World they have some episodes where they just be yelling “Samoans” and out of nowhere we just be popping up. I don’t know the reasoning for this but I guess it’s just a random running gag.

Another time before starting elementary school I used to watch The Price is Right with my Mom. This one time this Samoan lady picked up Bob Barker and spun him around. I heard there are other Samoan ladies who’ve done that to Bob many times, so I don’t know if this was the same lady when I first saw it.

Manic Pixie Prostitute

I didn’t know the name for this type of character was called Manic Pixie Dream Girl. You learn something new everyday.

Anyways, this short film nails it and it’s the best one I’ve seen in awhile.

Less sexy, more magical.
