December Till Today

In the beginning of December, I started on my second security gig. Last time I got to see a bunch of internet celebrities, this time I actually saw some movie celebrities. It was an easy job, all I had to do was watch over the production equipment and the wardrobe trailers.

The movie is an independent film called Frank And Lola. I got to see Michael Shannon, and Imogen Poots. I stood about 5 feet away from them, and really wanted to say something but didn’t. I mean, what do you say as an icebreaker to a celebrity? It also didn’t help I was working as security. I didn’t want bother them and break the “professionalism”.

Anyways, nothing got stolen, I got paid, and the gig ended. I’m waiting until mid January for the next gig with Warner Bros., and Nicolas Cage. (Fingers crossed)

On December 12th/13th, I was in San Diego having a mini family reunion (Early Christmas edition!) on my mom’s side. It was really nice seeing everyone. It just sucked that I only stayed for less than a day.

Christmas. Everybody got what they wanted, and I got me a squat rack.

I think my Dad is the only person who doesn’t like it. His argument was that I could’ve saved the money by going to the gym. Yes, it’s true I could’ve BUT my schedule (previous and upcoming) isn’t going to allow me to go to the gym in it’s off-peak hours. I hate waiting around for the equipment to be free AND during peak hours it turns into a club like atmosphere (I find it ridiculous). So in the end I said “screw it” and bought the rack. Now I can lift whenever I want. I’m happy.

New Years happened. Which was a little random because I met up with my best friend Walter. We ended up with meeting more friends at a ghetto ass house party. How ghetto? Well the new year countdown ended with guns being popped off throughout the neighborhood. Yeah, THAT happened.

After that we took off for McFadden’s and then I called it a night. On the way home stopped at Robertos and now I’m typing this up. There’s more to be said but I keep getting sidetracked with random internet stuff, and it doesn’t help I’m hella tired.

Everyone have a happy new year!

Security Gig

My very first security gig was on Friday, and let’s just say it was pretty interesting.

It was held at Mike Tyson’s former mansion and it was mostly a gathering for a bunch of online celebrities (vine, youtube, twitter, etc…). Well, in this event all the online celebs were being referred to as Influencers, sure whatever.

I wasn’t posted at the mansion but around the corner at a bar where the guests parked their cars to be shuttled off to the party. All I had to do was make sure whoever used the shuttle had an armband on, if not kick them off. A very easy gig.

I still find it weird to see someone you’ve only seen on TV/Internet, and then seeing them in real life. I think it has to do with the saying “camera adds 10 pounds” because when seeing that person in real life they’re always so much smaller. An example I have (and I wish I had a picture for it) was when there was a group of people waiting for the shuttle to arrive, I saw a kid standing off to the side wearing a purple and black suit with a pompadour hairstyle. In my head I was like “Damn, who is this kid? And where are his parents?”. The shuttle came, the group got on but the kid got left behind (no room in the van). The kid then threw a fit, called somebody at the party, and got a personal shuttle to show up. I was thinking “Damn that kid MUST be somebody”, and he was cause later I found out by the ladies checking-in people that that was Drake Bell.

You know what’s also weird? Seeing someone who has celebrity status getting put through normal people problems. Timothy DeLaGhetto and his friends (probably other online “influencers”) got stuck with me at the bar. They were done partying at the mansion and didn’t have a ride back to their hotel room. He called for a taxi but it was a 1 hour wait so he declined it thinking he’ll find a quicker way to catch a ride. Well, an hour and a half later he’s still at the bar with me. Tim and his friends were pretty cool, always crackin’ jokes. In the end they did call for a taxi and waited for it at McDonalds down the street.

Besides my family working security, I made some new friends with people who were working the event. I met an actual Las Vegas native girl (forgot her name but she checked people in) who was pretty cool. D-Rock (Darren, a shuttle driver) who is extremely into Burning Man and kept telling me to show up to that event with the promise of booze, a tent designated for orgies only, and putting together an “atomic bomb” made out of wood to burn up. Krista (Another shuttle driver) who kept telling me that she’s going to kill herself by jumping off the Hoover Dam cause I was guessed her age hella wrong by saying she’s looks 40ish. And Maddie (another check-in worker) who is this cool ass Canadian chick who I kept having to convert Fahrenheit to Celsius for her, at least she knew the imperial system.

I would’ve taken pictures of the event but the camera on my phone is broken. I’m bout to order me another phone soon. So if you want to see the pictures from the event go look up the hashtag TinHouse on twitter, you’ll see who was there and what the place looked like.

Bucket List

I couldn’t find my bucket list I made a long time ago (can’t even find any drafts). So I looked on the internet for some ideas, and now I have a new list. You can find it in the Projects section, or just click here to view it.

I’m also making a promise to start updating this website more often. #PinkySwear <— lol

(Small Update: No longer hella sick, just stuck with a damn cough)

Happy New Years (2014)

This scene from Back To The Future 2 has been playing in my head lately… Why? Because I’ve just noticed that next year is the same year the scene takes place in AND I also realized that have cousins who are the same age as Griff Tannen. It’s awesome, and that’s pretty much all I have to say.

Oh yeah, and happy new year!… Later.

Back On My Bullshit

Close to two weeks ago I took a trip to the Bay Area to see my cousin’s football game. Trips to San Francisco always end up being nice. I got to kick it with family, see the New Bay Bridge, and on the way back to Vegas we stopped at a farm and bought some delicious fruits and habanero pistachio nuts.

In about 20 days or so I’m going to be taking another trip and this time it’ll be to Texas. I’ll be trying my hand at farming on my Uncle’s ranch. I hear there’s going to be a lot of horse riding, and building/breaking down of fences. Real tough ranch hand work, and since my Uncle was in the Marines I know he’s NOT going to go easy on me.

Oh and before I can ride any of the horses I have to be under 300 pounds, and I’m currently clocking in at 357. I figured I have to lose about 3 pounds per day till I leave to barely qualify. So what’s the quickest way to lose weight in a very short amount of time? Fasting.

I’ll keep you guys updated as much as possible before I head out.

Back Again, From San Diego.

I came back from San Diego with my Dad last Tuesday, and headed back on Friday, then came home with everyone (except auntie Jessie) on Sunday.

It seems the quick trip back home was to pay some bills, water the plants, and so my Dad can join in live for his fantasy football draft with his co-workers.

I’m tired of short stay travels and I have a new rule while long distance driving. If I can’t listen to what I want to listen to on the radio, then I’m not getting behind the wheel. It doesn’t mean I’ll be driving and listening to only uncensored rap songs in the car with my parents, it just means if I want to listen to 90’s, 2k pop, or whatever that’s what I’m going to do, and if I can’t well someone else is driving.

Last but not least Alzheimer’s disease is pretty scary. Hearing about it one thing but seeing someone with it is heart breaking. I’ll probably write more about it later, right now I’m too tired and about to catch up on some much needed rest.
